Happy Halloween! Our Halloween wreath is pretty creepy if I do say so myself. It was pretty easy and cheap (only about $15) to make. I wrapped black silk ribbon around a flat floral wreath, made a bow out of spider ribbon, and glued a skull into the bow. I used a smaller wreath than usual, so I had to make sure it hung down from the hook, otherwise it would block our peephole (there’s nothing scarier than not knowing who’s knocking!). I used the rest of the spider ribbon to make a small bow to hide the hook on the door. When all of this was done, it still felt like something was missing. Bear suggesting putting the words “Happy Halloween” on it and I think it was a great idea. Once I cut the letters out using my Silhouette, I glued them on and now we have the perfect Halloween wreath!
Bear and I have been rewatching the first two seasons of Game of Thrones so when it came time to carve our pumpkins, it wasn’t difficult to come up with ideas for a design. Bear went with a direwolf for the Starks and I went with a dragon for the Targaryens. Now we have sigils on our pumpkins!
I love all the ways you can present monograms - interlocking script, bold print, single initials, and even the funky, non-traditional designs. Even better is the fact that all of these options look great on wine carafes. We all have to do lists that are a little out of control and if there’s one thing that helps me feel in control, it’s having a well organized to do list. So I decided to reuse an old 8x10 frame and make a nice new to do list. I put chevron cardstock in the frame, cut vinyl words with my Silhouette machine and made three categories - one for things to do now (errands and things around the house), one for work that needs to be done on my Etsy shop (orders, design proofs, new listings) and one for projects and goals that I want to tackle in the future. I liked the idea of using a frame because it gives me the option to write things on post-its or with a dry erase marker. I also like using a frame because if I get tired of the chevron paper, I can easily trade it out for a different pattern or color cardstock - I can even do holiday themed paper.
